We collect personal information provided by candidates and departments, including but not limited to names, contact information, employment history, education history, examination results, uploaded documents, communications, and platform usage data. We may also collect technical information such as IP addresses, browser type, and device data to maintain platform functionality and security.
How We Use Information
Information is used to facilitate recruitment processes, connect candidates with participating departments, operate and improve platform functionality, communicate with users, comply with legal obligations, and maintain system security.

Information is shared solely for the purpose of facilitating recruitment and employment evaluation.
getbadged does not sell, rent, or broadly distribute confidential candidate information. Access to user information is limited to participating police departments to whom the candidate has applied, secure third-party hosting providers that store platform data, authorized development and technical support personnel who maintain platform functionality, and legal authorities when required to comply with lawful subpoenas, court orders, or other legal obligations. Except as described herein, getbadged does not disclose confidential candidate information.
getbadged does not sell personal information.

TERMS OF SERVICE
These Terms of Service govern use of the getbadged platform.
Platform Role
getbadged operates as a recruitment facilitation and matching platform. getbadged is not an employer, appointing authority, public records custodian, civil service administrator, or certifying authority.
No Guarantee of Employment
Use of the platform does not guarantee interview selection, hiring consideration, employment, certification, or appointment.

We do not guarantee uninterrupted, error-free, or continuous availability of the platform. While reasonable backup and continuity practices are maintained, getbadged does not guarantee permanent preservation of platform data.
Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, getbadged, its owners, officers, employees, contractors, and affiliates shall not be liable for hiring decisions made by participating departments, a department’s failure to retain applicant records, loss of data resulting from outages, third-party service interruptions, cyber events, or force majeure events, or any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, punitive, or exemplary damages, including lost profits, lost opportunities, or reputational harm. In no event shall getbadged’s total cumulative liability exceed the amount paid for services during the twelve months preceding the claim.

Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
Policy Modifications
getbadged reserves the right to update its policies, procedures, retention practices, and platform functionality at any time. Continued use of the platform constitutes acceptance of such updates.
DEPARTMENT TERMS & CONDITIONS
These Department Terms apply to all participating police departments.
Custodial Responsibility
Participating departments remain the appointing authority and official custodians of applicant records submitted through the platform. Once an application is received, the department assumes sole responsibility for downloading, retaining, and maintaining applicant materials in compliance with applicable laws.
Compliance Obligations
Departments are responsible for compliance with Massachusetts Public Records Law, municipal retention schedules, civil service documentation requirements where applicable, and certification requirements established by the Massachusetts Peace Officer Standards and Training Commission.
getbadged does not maintain official municipal employment files, does not respond to public records requests on behalf of departments, and does not serve as a department’s archival or compliance record system.
Access to Records
Access to applications during and after membership is governed by the department’s contractual agreement and getbadged’s then-current retention and archival policies. getbadged reserves the right to define the format, method, scope, and functionality of record access, including whether access is view-only or downloadable.
Departments are strongly advised to retain all applicant records within their own internal systems independent of platform access. getbadged shall not be liable for a department’s failure to download or retain records.
Indemnification
Departments agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless getbadged from claims arising from hiring decisions, public records compliance failures, retention failures, or alleged violations of civil service or POST requirements.
CANDIDATE TERMS & CONDITIONS
These Candidate Terms apply to all individual users.
Application Submission
By clicking “Apply” and submitting an application through the getbadged platform, a candidate expressly authorizes getbadged to transmit their submitted information and application materials to the selected participating police department for hiring consideration. Information is shared solely for the purpose of facilitating recruitment and employment evaluation.
Submission of an application does not guarantee review, reconsideration, interview selection, or employment.
Application Status Updates
A department is independently responsible for providing updates, progresses, pauses, or closes a candidate’s status within its hiring process.
Application status updates displayed within the platform reflect eligibility conditions or administrative system indicators and do not constitute hiring decisions.
Each participating department retains sole responsibility for managing, updating, progressing, or closing candidate applications within its hiring process.
getbadged does not control or direct departmental hiring determinations and shall not be responsible for changes to a candidate’s status made by a department.
Eligibility Changes & Status Updates
Applications may be automatically updated within the platform if:
- A candidate’s exam score expires.
- A candidate’s membership expires.
- A candidate no longer meets a department’s minimum requirements.
In such cases, applications may be marked:
- “No Longer Meets Requirements” or “Inactive Membership.”
When an application is marked as inactive or no longer meeting requirements, the candidate’s contact information and certain profile details may no longer be visible within the platform to departments to which the candidate previously applied.
If a candidate becomes inactive while actively engaged in a department’s hiring process, the department is expected, as part of its internal hiring and record-keeping practices, to have retained the candidate’s complete application materials and contact information independently of platform access.
Restoration of eligibility does not automatically reactivate prior submissions. Reconsideration of previously submitted applications is at the sole discretion of the department.
Account Inactivity
Accounts that remain inactive for (30) days, may be archived or deleted in accordance with internal data management practices.
Platform Responsibility
getbadged is not responsible for a department’s hiring decisions, interpretation of eligibility requirements, delays in hiring processes, or removal of job postings.
Policy Updates
By using the platform, candidates acknowledge that getbadged reserves the right to update its policies and data retention practices. Continued use of the platform constitutes acceptance of such updates.
