Minimum Requirements
To be considered an eligible candidate for the role of Service Officer, you must meet or exceed the Minimum Requirements as specified below.
- Minimum of a High School diploma required. A strong educational background (Associate's or Bachelor's Degree) in criminal justice or related field is preferred.
- 1-3 years of security or related experience is preferred
- Must possess and maintain a valid Massachusetts Driver's license
- Must submit to, and pass, an initial and annual criminal background check
- The ability to be licensed as a Special State Police Officer under the Commonwealth of M.G.L. Chapter 22C, Section 63, is preferred
- Must obtain and maintain required certifications in the following programs (training provided by department):
- CPR/AED/First Aid
- Narcan (Naloxone) Training
- AVADE/HDTS De-Escalation Training
- International Association of Healthcare Safety and Security (IAHSS) Basic Officer Certification (within first 90 days)

Additional Qualifications Include:
- Exemplary customer service and communication skills.
- Strong risk analysis and organizational skills.
- Reliable and flexible.
- Must be able to gather and evaluate evidence.
- Must be able to prepare clear and concise reports.
- Physically must be able to lift 50 pounds. Ability to stand/walk for minimum of 8 hours. Ability to run to any emergency within the hospital and adjoining campuses.
- Must be able to read, write, and speak English fluently. Fluency in more than one language is preferred.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities Include:
- Provide protection to people and property.
- Patrol buildings and grounds.
- Provide a high level of customer service.
- Provide emergency response to a variety of situations.
- Conduct preliminary investigations.
- Provide escorts for staff, visitors, and patients as needed.
- Assist motorists with jump starts and lockouts.
- Perform patient restraints; detains individuals suspected or criminal conduct.
- Maintain accountability for valuable/property and other forms of evidence.
- May be assigned to special duties such as Bike Patrol and/or Community Liaison Officer.
- May be assigned to an off-site location.
- May be required to work other shifts and/or locations when necessary.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
