Job Description
The Massachusetts General Hospital Police & Security is actively seeking qualified Telecommunicators join our team of communication specialists to staff a 24-hour dispatch center. The MGH PD provides a safe and secure environment for hospital patients, visitors, and employees by enforcing hospital regulations, and maintaining active, continuous vigilance.
Under the general direction of the Communications Center Manager, incumbent is responsible for the function of all communication center activities, including the operation and maintenance of the central control dispatch center equipment, including telephones, alarm systems, access control systems, CCTV systems, digital recorders, radio systems and computers; ensuring that all equipment is in good working order and communicates with the Security Systems group on ensuring timely repairs.

Minimum Requirements
To be considered an eligible candidate for the role of Police Dispatcher, applicants much meet or exceed the Minimum Requirements as specified below.
- Experience in hospital, security/police, emergency medical or customer services, and radio communication experience is required
- Previous experience in communication and/or alarm monitoring operation preferred
- Ability to successfully perform all requirements of the Security Officer Position
- Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice or related discipline or technical degree, preferred
- Possess a valid Massachusett's driver's license
- Experience dealing with and speaking to the public
- Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks in a busy, noisy, and stressful environment
- Successful completion of a thorough background investigation
Applicants with CJIS, E911, Emergency Medical Dispatch, CPR training and certification, experience as a police dispatcher and/or fire alarm operator, knowledge of computer aided dispatch systems, and those seeking a career in emergency communications will be given preference.
