Minimum Requirements

FT Lateral Transfer:

  • To be considered an eligible applicant, candidates must hold current Full-Time Police Officer status, and be a full-time enforcement officer from any U.S. law enforcement agency with a minimum of two years full time experience in his/her agency in order to apply to the Department as a Lateral Transfer.

  • A former Norwood police officer, who separated from the Department in good standing, may apply to rejoin the Department as a reinstatement.

  • Possess an Associate's Degree or equivalent credits when enrolled in a Bachelor's program, or be an active member of the military or honorably discharged.

  • A FT Lateral Transfer applicant must be certified and in good standings with the National Decertification Index (NDI).

  • Must be of good moral character and fit for employment, as determined by the POST Commission.
