The Norwood PD is seeking experienced Lateral Transfer officers ready to apply their proven skills in a new environment. Our Department is an accredited agency consisting of sixty-five sworn officers. NPD Officers are responsible for the safety of the Norwood's 32,000 residents and visitors alike. We work to secure the community by patrolling an area of just over 10 square miles by means of three shifts over twenty-four hours, three hundred sixty five days a year. Our officers take pride in the responsibility given to them by the Town of Norwood and are grateful to serve this community.

Minimum Requirements

FT Lateral Transfer:

• To be considered an eligible applicant, candidates must hold current Full-Time Police Officer status, and be a full-time enforcement officer from any U.S. law enforcement agency with a minimum of two years full time experience in his/her agency in order to apply to the Department as a Lateral Transfer.

• A former Norwood police officer, who separated from the Department in good standing, may apply to rejoin the Department as a reinstatement.

• Possess an Associate's Degree or equivalent credits when enrolled in a Bachelor's program, or be an active member of the military or honorably discharged.

• A FT Lateral Transfer applicant must be certified and in good standings with the National Decertification Index (NDI).

• Must be of good moral character and fit for employment, as determined by the POST Commission.

Salary & Compensation

Salary: Top step patrol officers (5 years) earn an annual salary of $82,733 - $121,575. 

Officers are eligible for education incentives based on their annual salary. Accepted degrees for compensation: Criminal Justice, Criminal Justice Administration, Criminology, Law Enforcement, Sociology, Psychology, Forensic Science, Public Administration, Communications, Emergency Management, Computer Science, and Political Science.

• Associate's Degree - 10%
• Bachelor's Degree - 20%
• Master's Degree - 25%
