Minimum Requirements

Do You Qualify? Lateral Transfer Officers must meet the following qualifications necessary for consideration:

• A FT enforcement officer from any Massachusetts law enforcement agency must have experience in his/her agency to be considered as a Lateral Transfer.

• Must have completed academy training through a full-time MPTC Police Academy. Bridge Academy training does not meet the eligibility requirement.

• Must be POST Certified, and of good moral character and fit for employment, as determined by the POST Commission.

• Must not be listed on any Brady List.

• A FT Lateral Transfer applicant must be in good standings with the National Decertification Index (NDI).

• Must pass thorough Background Investigation.

• Must pass a Medical Exam and Psychological Exam.

• Must pass Physical Abilities Test (PAT) administered by the Norfolk PD.

Salary & Compensation

The Norfolk PD offers a competitive salary & benefits compensation package. 

Annual Salary:

• Starting Salary Range = $67,844.92 to $90,000+ (Salary is commensurate with education & law enforcement experience.)

Annual Compensation Benefits:

• 65/35 Health Insurance Contribution Ratio (Town/Employee)

Hiring Process

Steps in the hiring process:

• Pass the Oral Interview with Panel.
• Subject to a Background Investigation.
• Receive a Conditional Offer of Employment.
• Pass a Medical and Psychological Evaluation.
• Must pass the Physical Abilities Test (PAT) administered by the Norfolk PD.
