Minimum Requirements

• Certification: Must be POST Certified.
• Training: Must have received Academy training through the full-time MPTC Police Academy.
• Fitness Test: Must pass the Physical Abilities Test (PAT), administered by the Human Resources Division of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
• Background & Examinations: Must pass an extensive background investigation, medical examination, and psychological evaluation.
• Non-Smoker: Pursuant to M.G.L. Chapter 41, Section 101A, candidate(s) must be a non-smoker for a period of one (1) year prior to appointment.
• Residency: In accordance with Massachusetts General Law, candidate must establish residency within 15 miles of the limits of the Town of Marion within one (1) year from the date of appointment.

To be considered for a lateral transfer position, applicants must meet all of the additional requirements.

Do You Qualify? Eligibility Criteria

• To be considered an eligible applicant, candidates must hold current Full-Time Police Officer status, and be a full-time enforcement officer from any U.S. law enforcement agency in order to apply to the Department as a Lateral Transfer.
• Possess an Associate's Degree or equivalent credits when enrolled in a Bachelor's program, or be an active member of the military or honorably discharged.
• A FT Lateral Transfer applicant must be certified and in good standings with the National Decertification Index (NDI).
• Must be of good moral character and fit for employment, as determined by the POST Commission.

Salary

Annual Salary Range:

• $55,187 - $75,240, commensurate with experience.
