• Assigns, observes, reviews, evaluates, and documents the work performance of officers for compliance with established department policies, procedures, and standards.
• Prepares work schedules.
• Reviews work of officers for content, accuracy, and completeness.
• Assists with training of new and current officers.
• Engages, mentors, supports, and motivates officers in their development.
• Provides opportunities and guidance that enable the transfer of learning into effective practice.
• Oversees or responds to calls.
• Follows-up on investigations of crimes.
• Ensures calls are handled promptly and efficiently.
• Responds to and resolve difficult and sensitive inquiries.
• Conducts investigations; interviews compliance, witness, and suspects; procures evidence and prepares reports.
• Makes recommendations to the Lieutenant concerning assignment of work, performance, reward, promotion.
• Initiates or takes disciplinary action as warranted.
• Maintains good working relationships with other agencies and interjurisdictional activities.
• Attends and participates in professional group meetings.
• Performs related duties as required.

• Knowledge of police practices and investigative procedures of a comprehensive campus law enforcement program.
• Principles and practices of law enforcement administration, organization, and management.
• Use of firearms and other modern police equipment.
• Principles of supervision, training, and performance evaluation.
• Pertinent Federal, State, and Local laws, codes, and restrictions.
• Effectively plan, direct, supervise, and coordinate the work of Police Department personnel.
• Participate in the development and administration of department goals, objectives, and procedures.
• Analyze problems and identify alternative solutions.
• Effectively use and qualify with law enforcement tools and weapons.
• Operate specialized law enforcement equipment.
• Meet the physical requirements necessary to safely and effectively perform the assigned duties.
• Act quickly and calmly in emergencies; displays willingness to make decisions, supports and explains reasoning for decisions; balances team and individual responsibilities.
• Interpret, apply, and make decisions in accordance with applicable Federal, State, and Local policies, laws, and regulations.

• Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing; speaks clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations; and responds well to questions.

Supervise Police Officers, Desk Officers/Dispatchers, Campus Safety Liaisons.

Special working conditions, physical requirements:

• May require working occasional evenings, weekends, and special events.
• Must be available for an emergency call-in basis.
• Valid unrestricted U.S. Driver's License.
• Possess an insurable or satisfactory driving record.

Salary: 

• $35.01 per hour
