Minimum Requirements
- Background: Must pass a comprehensive background investigation;
- Medical & Psychological Exam: Candidates required to successfully complete both Medical & Psychological exam;
- Education: Possess a High School Diploma/G.E.D. equivalent, or have achieved Veteran's status with the United States Armed Forces as defined by Massachusetts General Law;
- Residency: In accordance with Massachusetts General Law, candidate must establish residency within 15 miles of the limits of the Town of Hopedale within one (1) year from the date of appointment;
Additional Qualifications
FT Lateral Transfer:
- To be considered an eligible applicant, candidates must be POST Certified, hold current Full-Time Police Officer status, and be a full-time enforcement officer for a minimum of one (1) year from any U.S. law enforcement agency in order to apply to the Department as a Lateral Transfer.
- Must be either full-time MPTC Academy graduate, or the training academy must be eligible for a waiver.
- A FT Lateral Transfer applicant must be certified and in good standings with the National Decertification Index (NDI).
- Must be of good moral character and fit for employment, as determined by the POST Commission.
Salary & Compensation
Salary Range:
- $64,790.64 - $77,464.80
- Certified officers will receive credit for time served. Experience and years of service will determine starting salary.
Benefits Beyond the Pay:

- Shift Differential = $3.25 - $4.00/shift.
- Third Party Detail Opportunities: $65/hr. - $162.50/hr. with a minimum of 8 hours.

Hiring Process

- Eligible applicant's may be invited to an Interview Panel and/or Chief of Police.
- May be invited to complete a fitness test, comprehensive background investigation process, as well as pass the Medical, Psychological exam.
- May receive a Conditional Offer of Employment.
