  • Accredited agency with 65 sworn officers, and currently fields over sixty sworn officers to serve a community of some 32,000+ residents.

  • Norwood PD officers secure the community by patrolling over 10 square miles, but is patrolled 24/7 across three shifts 365 days a year. That means each officer has real impact on a tight-knit community. 

  • Norwood’s overall crime rate is significantly lower than the national average — reportedly ~58% lower. 

  • Norwood is just ~14 miles southwest of Boston, and boasts three MBTA commuter rail stations on the Franklin/Foxboro line.  

  • The Skating Club of Boston, a major national figure-skating institution founded in 1912, relocated to Norwood in 2020. The facility includes multiple rinks, off-ice training spaces, and community engagement. 

  • Before it was Norwood, the area was part of Dedham and known as “South Dedham.” The George H. Morse House (still standing) is one of the oldest properties and ties the past to the present.

As a non-Civil Service agency, the Norwood PD has the flexibility to establish department-specific criteria to help us identify the strongest and most aligned candidates for our team. 

All applicants must meet the listed requirements. Those who apply without qualifying will be disqualified from consideration.
