Minimum Requirements

REQUIREMENTS: Below are the minimum requirements as outlined by the Foxborough Police Department.

• Possess an Associate's Degree, OR
• Possess a high school diploma/GED equivalent AND have honorably served with the United States Armed Forces as defined by Massachusetts General Laws.
• Must reside within 15 miles of Foxborough, MA, within one year after of appointment.
• Be a U.S. Citizen (Birth or naturalization).
• Possess a valid Massachusetts Driver's License.
• Have the ability to obtain an unrestricted Massachusetts Class A License to Carry a Firearm (LTC-A).
• Not be a convicted felon or have convictions from another jurisdiction that would be treated as a felony in the Commonwealth.
• Not smoke and stay a non-smoker. Smoking of tobacco products is prohibited as outlined by G.L. c. 41 Section 101A of the Massachusetts General Laws.
• Must have the ability to complete the full-time MPTC Police Academy. 
• Preference may be given to candidates with established ties to the Foxborough community, including current and former residents, as well as those who possess specialized training, certifications, higher education, or relevant experience. However, all qualified applicants are encouraged to apply and will be considered throughout the hiring process.

Police Officers must perform a wide range of law enforcement duties and responsibilities necessary to the stability and safety of the community. This means taking initiative, building trust, and making decisions that reflect sound judgment, professionalism, and integrity.

Learn More About Your Role

• Identify criminal offenders and criminal activity. Where appropriate, apprehend offenders and participate in subsequent court proceedings.
• Reduce the opportunities for the commission of crime through preventative patrol and other measures.
• Aid individuals who are in danger of physical harm.
• Facilitate the movement of vehicular and pedestrian traffic; enforce traffic rules and regulations and motor vehicle laws by issuing citations.
• Create and maintain a feeling of security in the community.
• Response to emergency situations and provide appropriate services as necessary.
• Promote and preserve the peace.
• Creatively solve problems related to improving the quality of life in the community.  
• Complete detailed reports on all crimes, vehicle accidents, and other incidents requiring police attention.
• Properly maintain equipment and supplies.
• Perform all other essential functions of a municipal police officer identified by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts' Human Resources Division.

 

Salary & Compensation

Annual Salary:

• $65,047 (Step 1) - $80,996 (Step 8)

• Pass a state mandated Physical Abilities Test (PAT).
