Job Description
Start Your Law Enforcement Career With The North Shore Community College Police Department - Today!
Ready to launch your law enforcement career? Join the North Shore Community College Police Department — a full-service public safety agency serving Danvers and Lynn, with integrity, professionalism, and community engagement. Protect a dynamic campus community, grow your skills, and build a career that fits your life.
Why Choose a Career at NSCC's Public Safety Department?
- Fully sworn Massachusetts police officer (not security).
- POST Certified or Bridge Academy .
- Full-scope patrol operations: investigations, emergency response, reports, patrol.
- Community-focused policing — protect students, faculty, and staff.
- Make a difference and see the impact of your work.
Our Culture & Leadership:
- A community-first philosophy: Our department prioritizes community-oriented policing — not just enforcement. We actively engage with students, faculty, and staff to build trust and rapport. Officers are encouraged to be visible, approachable partners in campus life rather than just responders to incidents.
- Leadership that values accessibility over authority: Chief David Cook and his leadership team have restructured the department to reduce fixed post assignments and instead emphasize proactive interaction with the campus community. This approach reflects a belief that officers are most effective when known by name and seen as resources, not just enforcers.
- Collaborative, inclusive decision-making: NSCC PD doesn’t operate in a vacuum — the department actively seeks input and dialogue with students and faculty on safety approaches and policy improvements. That kind of inclusive communication isn’t standard in many agencies, and it speaks to a culture of listening first.
- A supportive, teaching environment: Because NSCC is an educational setting, the PD culture reflects mentorship and development — both internally and externally. Officers are expected to be educators and guides as much as they are protectors, helping students navigate safety resources and understand expectations within the community.
Become a NSCC PD officer and protect a community, while building a career, and without sacrificing your quality of life.
