The Lynn PD is actively accepting applications from qualified candidates looking to join their team for the role of Police Officer.
Our department proudly serves a diverse community of over 101,000 residents and is located 3.7 miles north of Boston. The members of the Lynn Police Department seek to build trust and legitimacy with the members of this community by providing professional police services that are rooted in the community policing philosophy. We do this by developing partnerships, and by working collaboratively, with residents, business owners, service organizations, elected officials, and others to identify problems and develop solutions using new and innovative strategies.

Minimum Requirements
Do You Meet All the Requirements? See If You Qualify:
🟦 Be a U.S. Citizen (by birth or naturalization) or provide proof of legal authority to work as a police officer in the United States.
🟦 Be at least 21 years of age at the time of the exam.
🟦 Possess a high school diploma or G.E.D. Certificate. Preference may be given to candidates with a college degree, military experience, or a combination of both.
🟦 Possess a valid Massachusetts's driver's license.
🟦 Have the ability to obtain a Massachusetts Class A License to Carry a Firearm (LTC-A) at the time of hire.
🟦 Have the ability to pass the Physical Abilities Test (PAT's), and psychological fitness for duty examination after receiving a conditional offer of employment.
🟦 Have a strong character background.
🟦 Be willing and able to meet the duties and obligations of a Lynn Police Officer.
🟦 Have the ability to successfully complete the Massachusetts Police Training Council (MPTC) Full-Time Police Academy.
🟦 Not be a convicted felon or have convictions from another jurisdiction that would be treated as a felony in the Commonwealth.
🟦 Not smoke and stay a non-smoker. Smoking tobacco products is prohibited as outlined by G.L. Chapter 41 Section 101A of the Massachusetts General Laws.
🟦 Must pass a thorough background investigation.
🟦 Must have received a passing score of 70% or above on the getbadged Entry Exam.
