Foxborough PD: Full-Time MPTC Certified Academy Trained Officer

These are the minimum qualifications required by state law to serve as a POST Certified police officer in Massachusetts. All applicants must meet these baseline standards to be considered eligible.

• Be a U.S. Citizen (Birth or naturalization).
• Possess a valid Massachusetts Driver's License.
• Possess an unrestricted Massachusetts Class A License to Carry a Firearm (LTC-A).
• Not be a convicted felon, or have convictions from another jurisdiction that would be treated as a felony in the Commonwealth.
• Not smoke and stay a non-smoker. Smoking of tobacco products is prohibited as outlined by G.L. c. 41 Section 101A of the Massachusetts General Laws.

In addition to state standards, the Foxborough PD has outlined minimum qualifications and preferences that reflect the needs, values, and expectations of our department and community.

• Must have completed the full-time MPTC Police Academy. Candidates certified through the Bridge Academy are not eligible.
• Must reside within 15 miles of Foxborough, MA, within one year after of appointment.
• Possess an Associate's Degree, or equivalent credits from an accredited college/university, or possess a high school diploma/GED equivalent and have honorably served with the United States Armed Forces as defined by Massachusetts General Laws.
• Preference may be given to candidates who meet certain additional qualifications (such as residency, specialized training, or relevant experience). However, all qualified applicants are encouraged to apply and will be given full consideration.

• Identify criminal offenders and criminal activity. Where appropriate, apprehend offenders and participate in subsequent court proceedings.
• Reduce the opportunities for the commission of crime through preventative patrol and other measures.
• Aid individuals who are in danger of physical harm.
• Facilitate the movement of vehicular and pedestrian traffic; enforce traffic rules and regulations and motor vehicle laws by issuing citations.
• Create and maintain a feeling of security in the community.
• Response to emergency situations and provide appropriate services as necessary.
• Promote and preserve the peace.
• Creatively solve problems related to improving the quality of life in the community.  
• Complete detailed reports on all crimes, vehicle accidents, and other incidents requiring police attention.
• Properly maintain equipment and supplies.
• Perform all other essential functions of a municipal police officer identified by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts' Human Resources Division.

Annual Salary for Patrol Officer:

• $65,047 (Step 1) - $80,996 (Step 8)
