Minimum Requirements

  • POST Certification: Must have successfully graduated from the FT MPTC Academy and be POST Certified;
  • MA License: Must possess a valid Massachusetts Driver's License;
  • LTC Certification: Must be eligible to obtain a Massachusetts LTC certificate;
  • Fitness Test: Must pass the Physical Abilities Test (PAT), administered by the Human Resources Division of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts;
  • Background & Examinations: Must pass an extensive background investigation, medical examination, and psychological evaluation;
  • Non-Smoker: Pursuant to M.G.L. Chapter 41, Section 101A, candidate(s) must be a non-smoker for a period of one (1) year prior to appointment; and
  • Residency: In accordance with Massachusetts General Law, candidate must establish residency within 15 miles of the limits of the Town of Marion within one (1) year from the date of appointment.
