Job Description
The Massachusetts General Hospital Police & Security is accepting applications from qualified FT MPTC Academy Trained POST Certified candidates looking to join our The MGH PD provides a safe and secure environment for hospital patients, visitors, and employees by enforcing hospital regulations, and maintaining active, continuous vigilance.
As an MGH PD officer, you will respond to, and when necessary, initiate investigations involving complaints and/or possible criminal conduct. MGH officers work under the authority of a special state police along with the proper State of Massachusetts POST Certification. Applicants must possess the ability to enforce appropriate Massachusetts General Laws as needed, utilizing power of arrest, or by seeking criminal complaint as needed.

Minimum Requirements
To be considered an eligible candidate for the role of FT Academy Trained Officer, applicants much meet or exceed the Minimum Requirements as specified below.
- Must have completed a full-time MPTC Police Academy, in accordance with M.G.L. Chapter 41, Section 96B
- Must be able to receive your MA POST Certification
- Must be able to receive Massachusetts State Police Officer (SSPO) designation
- Possess a high school diploma or GED Certificate. Preference will be given to those candidates that have a college degree(s), military experience, or combination
- Possess a valid Massachusett's driver's license
- Must obtain and maintain required certifications in the following programs (training to be provided by department):
- First Responder
- Annual In-Service Training, as currently provided by the MPTC
- Narcan (Naloxone) Training
- AVADE
- Have a strong character background
- Be willing and able to meet the duties and obligations of an MGH PD Police Officer
- Must pass thorough background investigations
- Must have achieved a minimum score of 70% on the PES/getbadged entry exam
