Minimum Requirements

Lateral Transfer Officers must meet the following qualifications necessary for consideration:

  • A FT enforcement officer from any U.S. law enforcement agency must have experience in his/her agency to be considered as a Lateral Transfer.
  • A FT Lateral Transfer applicant must be in good standings with the National Decertification Index (NDI).
  • Must be of good moral character and fit for employment, as determined by the POST Commission.
  • Possess an active License to Carry.
  • Must not smoke or use any tobacco products.
  • Must not have been convicted or a felony or any offense punishable under M.G.L. Chapter 94C (drug law violations); or have any convicted of a misdemeanor and confined to any jail or house of correction as punishment for said crime.
  • Possess a high school diploma or General Education Development (GED) certificate upon appointment to the Plainville Police Department.
  • Possess a valid Massachusetts Driver's License upon appointment to the Plainville Police Department.

 

Additional Qualifications

  • Satisfy the Department's physical fitness standards for initial appointments, as promulgated and amended.
  • Satisfy the Department's medical and psychological standards for initial appointment, as promulgated and amended.
