The Brigham & Women's Hospital Public Safety Department is actively hiring for multiple full-time Lieutenant positions. This is the perfect opportunity for Lateral Transfer officers to elevate your career to a new level. Positions are available for evening (3pm - 11pm), and nights (11pm - 7am).
The Lieutenant is responsible for the overall supervision of his/her Security Supervisors assigned to shift, as well as personnel, shift operations, recommending various personnel actions such as hiring, promotion, transfer and termination. Minimum Requirements
To be considered an eligible applicant for the full-time Lieutenant position, you must meet or exceed the Minimum Requirements, which include but are not limited to:
- Must be POST Certified.
- At least (5) five years of experience in Security, Law Enforcement, or Military required, and at least (3) three years in a supervisory capacity. Ten years of related experience and (5) five years of experience in a supervisory capacity is preferred.
- Minimum of an Associate's Degree in criminal justice is required, however a Bachelor's degree in criminal justice is preferred. Experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Must possess above average leadership, investigative, customer service, communication, and risk assessment skills.
- Must submit to, and pass, an initial and annual criminal background check.
- Must be able to perform each physical task within the first ninety days upon hire, and on an annual basis thereafter:
- 3-Minute Step Test
- Step, Bend, and Crawl
- Stretcher Carry
- Pull and Drag
- Balance Walk
- Stair Climb
- Must be able to lift 50lbs, and stand/walk for a minimum of (8) eight hours.
Additional Qualifications
- Must obtain and maintain required certifications in the following programs (training provided by department):
- AVADE/HDTS De-Escalation Training
- Exemplary customer service and communication skills.
- Strong risk analysis and organizational skills with the ability to address problems of all types.
- Reliable and flexible.
- Must be able to read, write, and speak English fluently. Fluency in more than one language is preferred.
Responsibilities Include:
- Ensures processes, policies and practices are interpreted and applied consistently and effectively across assigned shift and ensures accountability and compliance with state and federal laws, as well as hospital policies and procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Processes and assists in payroll processing.
- Serves on assigned committees and attends meetings on behalf of the department as directed, and understands the commitment involved to keep abreast of industry trends.
- Patient care is an essential function of the position.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.
