Minimum Requirements

Do You Meet All the Requirements? See If You Qualify:

✔️ Be a U.S. Citizen (by birth or naturalization) or provide proof of legal authority to work as a police officer in the United States.
✔️ Be at least 21 years of age at the time of the exam.
✔️ Possess a high school diploma or G.E.D. Certificate. 
✔️ Possess a valid Massachusetts's driver's license.
✔️ Have the ability to obtain a Massachusetts Class A License to Carry a Firearm (LTC-A) at the time of hire.
✔️ Have the ability to pass the Physical Abilities Test (PAT's) standards, as defined by the MPTC, as well as a medical exam and psychological fitness for duty examination.
✔️ Have a strong character background.
✔️ Be willing and able to meet the duties and obligations of a Seekonk Police Officer.
✔️ Have the ability to successfully complete the Massachusetts Police Training Council (MPTC) Full-Time Police Academy.
✔️ Not be a convicted felon or have convictions from another jurisdiction that would be treated as a felony in the Commonwealth. 
✔️ Not smoke and stay a non-smoker. Smoking tobacco products is prohibited as outlined by G.L. Chapter 41 Section 101A of the Massachusetts General Laws.
✔️ Must pass a thorough background investigation.
✔️ Must have received a passing score of 70% or above on the getbadged Entry Exam.

• Patrol assigned areas to deter and detect criminal activity.
• Respond to emergency calls and assist in emergency situations.
• Conduct investigations and gather evidence related to criminal offenses.
• Enforce laws and regulations, issue citations, and make arrests as necessary.
• Prepare and maintain accurate reports and documentation of incidents and investigations.
• Engage with community members to foster positive relationships and promote public safety.
• Collaborate with other law enforcement agencies and community organizations.

The Seekonk PD offers a competitive salary & benefits compensation package:

Annual Salary: 

• $72,516.24 - $86,016.24, Dependent on applicable collegiate degree. (New Contract Pending, July, FY2026)

Getting Hired at Seekonk PD: The Steps

• Achieve a 70% or above on the getbadged Entry Exam.
• Submit your application for eligibility determination.
• May be invited to an oral interview.
• Those who advance will be given the department's physical abilities test, based on the standards set forth by the MPTC.
• Chosen candidates will receive Conditional Offer of Employment (COE).
• Once the COE is signed, candidates are required to successfully pass:
  • Thorough background investigation.
  • The State's Physical Ability Test
  • Medical Exam.
  • Psychological Exam.
